$UTIL Token Technical Overview
Version 1.0
πΉ Purposeβ
The Matou Utility Token (UTIL) is a functional token used to power services, enable access to digital infrastructure, and incentivise verified contributions within the Matou DAO ecosystem. It is governed under a Treasury-controlled mint-and-burn model, where UTIL is minted when the Treasury approves new issuance (e.g., to reward contributions or fulfill service demand), and burned as needed to control liquidity. This approach allows the DAO to actively manage pricing and liquidity based on usage trends, contribution levels, and strategic priorities.
UTIL is distinct from governance tokens (COM and CTR) and is not used for voting or proposal control. Instead, it enables scalable, modular access to shared digital infrastructure and provides a flexible, programmable incentive layer.

πΉ Earning UTILβ
UTIL is earned through verified contribution. The process is as follows:
- π Proposal Submission β Contributor or TribalDAO submits a task or project proposal.
- β Approval Process β The proposal is reviewed and approved through DAO governance.
- π οΈ Task Completion β Contributor completes the task with required deliverables.
- π Verification β Treasury Stewards or designated reviewers verify completion.
- πͺ UTIL Minted β UTIL is minted and sent to the contributorβs wallet.
This ensures UTIL is only created when real value is delivered, making it resistant to inflation or misuse.
πΉ Primary Use Casesβ
UTIL is required for access to tools and features developed by the DAO. These may include:
| Tool / Feature | Example Usage | Pricing Model |
|---|---|---|
| πͺͺ Community Registration | DAO onboarding system | Tiered / Pay-per-use |
| π³οΈ Voting Infrastructure | Secure decision-making modules | Tiered / Pay-per-use |
| ποΈ Archiving & Records | Long-term cultural or governance data | Storage-based pricing |
| π¬ Communication Tools | Encrypted or decentralized comms | Usage credits |
| ποΈ File Storage & Media | Media hosting or doc storage | Size + duration based |
Future use cases may expand into automation tools, attestations, DAO modeling utilities, and custom governance workflows.
πΉ Pricing Modelsβ
Matou DAO intends to support flexible and sustainable service models:
- Tiered Access β Monthly, per-user, or per-DAO plans
- Pay-per-Use β Billed by data volume, transaction count, or feature usage
- Volume Discounts β For larger TribalDAOs or bulk access
- Locked Access (future) β Prepay or lock UTIL for service periods
All pricing will be transparent, governed, and adjustable through the Treasury.
πΉ Governance Separationβ
| Token | Role | Voting Power | Tradable | Use Case Summary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CTR | Contributor reputation | β Yes | β No | Voting, reputation record |
| COM | Community governance token | β Yes | β Yes | Voting, strategy setting, funding access |
| UTIL | Utility + incentive token | β No | β Yes* | Access to tools, contribution incentives, payments |
- Initially only tradable with the Treasury, not on open markets.
πΉ Governance & Oversightβ
- Treasury Stewards are responsible for overseeing UTIL issuance, verification, and moderation.
- Issuance logic and contract design will be auditable, transparent, and subject to DAO oversight.
- Anti-abuse controls (e.g. rate limits, spend thresholds, on-chain logs) will be implemented as needed.
- Minting and burning will be proposal based and require community and contributor voting
πΉ Future Directions & Research Areasβ
Matou DAO is actively exploring:
- βοΈΒ Bonding curves for pricing and liquidity management
- π UTIL interoperability with local community tokens
- βοΈ Minting and burning strategies to create trusted economics ecosystem
- π Advanced identity-bound utility logic (e.g. only usable by verified contributors)
