$CTR Token Technical Overview

Version 1.0

πŸ”Ή Purpose

The Matou Contributor Token (CTR) is a non-transferable reputation and governance token that records and recognizes verified contributions made by individuals and groups within the Matou DAO ecosystem. It serves as a proof-of-contribution layer, providing weight in governance (via the Contributor House), establishing trust, and guiding future rewards and responsibilities.

CTR is minted only when contributions are approved and verified through DAO processes. It is not tradable, cannot be transferred, and holds no monetary value β€” it is designed solely to capture work, accountability, and influence in a transparent and non-speculative way.

πŸ”·Β Mint-on-Use Contribution Model

CTR is only issued when a contributor successfully completes a verified task, deliverable, or milestone, which has been:

  1. πŸ“ Proposed to the DAO (via contributor proposal or funding request)
  2. βœ… Approved by governance or project lead
  3. πŸ› οΈ Completed with submitted deliverables
  4. πŸ” Reviewed and verified by the Treasury Stewards or designated reviewers

Once verified, the contributor receives a CTR allocation proportional to the value of the contribution. This minting process is fully transparent and logged on-chain.

πŸ”Ή Governance Role

CTR holders form the Contributor House, one of the three governance houses in Matou DAO. CTR balances determine voting weight in Contributor House decisions, which include:

  • βš™οΈ Evaluating technical and operational proposals
  • πŸ”„ Reviewing funding efficiency and project execution
  • 🧠 Participating in contributor policy changes (e.g., work standards, tooling)
  • πŸ” Holding accountability mechanisms for development workflows

πŸ”Ή Tokenomics Principles

PrincipleImplementation
πŸ› οΈ Proof-of-WorkCTR is tied directly to verified contributions
🚫 Non-SpeculativeNo transferability or financial value β€” only a marker of effort and value
πŸ§ͺ Governance WeightUsed to enable influence in Contributor House decisions
🧾 Public LedgerAll CTR issuance and revocation is recorded transparently on-chain
🧠 Reputation AccrualCTR can accumulate over time to reflect long-term trust and reliability

πŸ”Ή Oversight & Accountability

  • All CTR issuance must go through an approved contribution process
  • Contributions are verified by DAO mechanisms (e.g. Steward review, peer validation)
  • In cases of fraud, plagiarism, or misreporting, CTR can be revoked or nullified by DAO vote
  • Contribution history and CTR balance may influence eligibility for funded roles or leadership responsibilities

πŸ”Ή Future Considerations

  • πŸ“€Β Defined Contribution review and CTR reward calculations
  • πŸ“Š Time-weighted CTR decay (e.g., active vs. historic contributors)
  • πŸ”— Integration into decentralized identity or contributor reputation graphs
  • 🧠 Use of CTR thresholds to gate access to sensitive roles, reviews, or audits
  • πŸ› οΈ Contributor scoreboards and impact dashboards to visualize DAO productivity
